A new treatment for that can work within 10 minutes has launched in the UK.
It is a gel called Eroxon, and has been clinically proven to work for people with mild to severe erectile dysfunction.
Eroxon is made by Futura Medical, a pharmaceutical company based in the UK.
Eroxon is applied to the head of the penis, where the gel evaporates, with this evaporation stimulates vascular and neural nerve endings by rapidly cooling and warming the area. This triggers the release of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, therefore increasing blood flow to the penis and causing an erection.
The release of nitric oxide is also how other erectile dysfunction (ED) treatments such as Viagra work, but they have the disadvantage of relaxing blood vessels in the entire body, since they are taken orally and not applied directly. This can lead to side effects such as nausea, dizziness and headaches.
These side effects mean people with pre-existing health conditions, such as heart and liver disease, cannot take oral ED pills. They are also not safe for people who have recently had a stroke, and cannot be taken with some prescription medicines.
Dr Hilary Jones, who regularly appears as a health expert on ITV, told: “The word ‘breakthrough’ is often used in health headlines, but new treatments which are truly groundbreaking come along far less frequently. Eroxon is an innovative therapy which has the potential to change the lives of millions of men with erectile dysfunction.”
Dr Catherine Hood, a sexual health specialist, added: “When they were launched back in the 90s, PDE5i medicines were a game-changer, but they are not an option for many men due to pre-existing health conditions, interactions with their prescription medicines or simply because of the time they take to work.”
In a 12-week clinical trial of 250 people, two out of three reported a significant improvement in their ability to achieve and maintain an erection. The figure rose to 80 per cent for those with severe erectile dysfuncion.
The gel is available over the counter, without a prescription. Eroxon costs £24.99 for a pack of four single-use tubes, and is available from Boots stores and online.

The FDA is concerned about a recent study that found a statistically significant link between erectile dysfunction drugs and Alzheimer’s disease, a disease that causes dementia in older adults, and the use of sildenafil (Viagra), an erectile dysfunction drug.
According to the FDA, the study was led by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Aging and by researchers from the Cleveland Clinic, who reviewed the results.
The results showed that among men with ED, men with low levels of ED medication use erectile dysfunction drugs. About 43 percent of men using sildenafil used erectile dysfunction drugs, compared to just 38 percent of men with low levels of ED medication.
“For these men, erectile dysfunction drugs are the most common way to get their ED medication, and it’s important to keep in mind that the drugs may be used in ways that could not be determined by traditional medical studies,” said Michael M. O’Neill, president of the National Institute on Aging.
The National Institutes of Health has already begun to work with FDA to explore additional options to help men with ED get their ED medication. The FDA is also working with the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the National Center for Health Education and Research to provide information about erectile dysfunction drugs and how they are used in a new public health issue.
“This is an important step to bring erectile dysfunction drugs to people,” said David R. Weisberg, deputy director of the Office of the Inspector General of the U.
“It’s important that they be used properly by everyone, and that people use erectile dysfunction drugs properly to treat ED and prevent dementia,” said David R. Weisberg, deputy director of the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services.
“This is something that we have been working on for a long time. This is something that we hope will help make this public. We have worked with the Office of the Inspector General to develop a bill in the U. Senate that would allow people to have their health information on the internet and be able to obtain it.
